Matthew is usually driving the

"Susan" Kia Soul Small SUV. The vehicle is not too low and not too high for most elders to climb into.

The real Susan has been an Elderwheels client since the beginning, she is almost back to driving herself! Yay!

Matthew works on Monday, Wednesday and Thursdays.  Most of the time he will be scheduled with our walking clients (walkers, canes or no device) as well as those whom are able to transfer into a vehicle with minimal assistance (wheelchair can be placed in trunk).

Matthew was born and raised in Santa Maria, CA. He and his wife Lecia moved to Austin in 2013 for Lecia to attend seminary. They have lived in the Houston area for the last 6 years, moving back to Austin in October 2022.

 

After working as a European auto mechanic for 18 years Matthew, went to PTA school. He has worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and home health for 26 years and also served as a consultant for the City of Santa Maria for ADA transportation issues.
 

Matthew and Lecia have been married 33 years and have 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 dogs. In their spare time Matthew and Lecia enjoy traveling, spending time with family, walking the dogs and rooting for the LA Dodgers.

 

Matthew enjoys spending his spare time in Palacios, TX by the bay in quiet with a good book.
