Matthew is usually driving the our fun new 2023 Kia Soul Compact SUV named "Emily".  She has a ramp! The vehicle is not too low and not too high for most elders to climb into and can carry most manual wheelchairs.

The real Emily Ramirez was a great lady and we miss her dearly.  She is survived by her husband (Tito), son (Thom), daughter (Paula) and cat (Calla).

Matthew was born and raised in Santa Maria, CA. He and his wife Lecia moved to Austin in 2013 for Lecia to attend seminary. They lived in the Houston area for 6 years, then moved back to Austin in October 2022. It was perfect timing for Elderwheels as Matthew and Elsa worked together before and we needed another experienced therapy brain to join the team!

After working as a European auto mechanic for 18 years, Matthew went to PTA school. He has worked in hospitals, outpatient clinics, and home health for 26 years and also served as a consultant for the City of Santa Maria for ADA transportation issues.

​

Matthew and Lecia have been married 33 years and have 3 children, 4 grandchildren and 2 dogs. In their spare time Matthew and Lecia enjoy traveling, spending time with family, walking the dogs and rooting for the LA Dodgers.

 

Matthew enjoys spending his spare time in Palacios, TX by the bay in quiet with a good book.
