Scott Urbach

SOUTH AUSTIN AND SURROUNDING

Scott joined the Elderwheels Team in June 2024 - he and Amy go way back as coworkers and friends. Scott will be driving the "Maria" accessible ramp van.

The real Maria Gonzalez was a tiny 87-year-old lady we transported many times from Cedar Creek to South Austin. She passed away during the pandemic of other health issues and is survived by many family members who cared so much for her in her later years. Elsa has great memories of practicing her Spanish on those long morning rides into town.

Scott works on Tue - Wed - Fri !

Scott joined Elderwheels upon retiring from a long career in Austin's software industry, primarily working for healthcare-related technology companies. In addition to his professional background, Scott became certified as a head basketball coach with the Special Olympics and volunteered and served that community for 16 years with Austin Parks and Recreation.

Scott has also been the primary caretaker for both of his parents as they managed health issues in their senior years.  These experiences serving in the community and caring for his family led Scott to Elderwheels upon his retirement. He joined in June 2024 and has loved being a part of the Elderwheels community!

For fun, Scott loves the open road and has lived two separate years abroad and backpacked to roughly 50 countries and most states. His other primary passions are dogs (specifically his boxer, Mingus), working with the Special Olympics community, collecting (mostly old) music, and hiking Austin's trails.
