NORTH AUSTIN AND SURROUNDING

Theresa usually works Mon, Tue, Wed, Fri with adjusted hours when her kids are on school breaks. She has been an impactful part of our Elderwheels Team since August 2023, and we love her!​​​​

When Theresa is on the road you may see her drive up in "Maria", one of our 2019 Dodge Grand Caravan accessible ramp vans.

The real Maria Gonzalez was a tiny 87-year-old lady we transported many times from Cedar Creek to South Austin. She passed away during the pandemic of other health issues and is survived by many family members who cared so much for her in her later years. Elsa has great memories of practicing her Spanish on those long morning rides into town.

Theresa has experience in the medical and health field for over 20 years. She graduated from UT Austin with a Bachelor's in Medical Technology and worked in the clinical laboratory for several years before making a switch to pursue a Master's in Occupational Therapy from the UT Health Science Center in San Antonio.

She has worked as an OT with pediatrics in outpatient clinics, and then with adults in the hospital, home health, assisted living, and skilled nursing facility settings over a span of 10 years.

​

Over the years, she has also worked as a fitness instructor with older adults in an independent living retirement community; and as a health coach and biometrics screener for worksite wellness events when taking a break from work as an OT.

She is passionate about health and wellness, working to care for clients of all ages, and learning about ways to help people maintain a balance in their physical, mental, and emotional well-being in all stages of their lives.

In her spare time, she enjoys trail running, hiking, yoga, cooking, traveling, and spending time with her 2 kids and husband, especially being active in the outdoors!
